- "New beginnings besides easily focus on ever changing identities in addition to intimacies amongst no honour for intrinsic pregnant or greater moral purpose. The data social club constantly revises reality in addition to updates experience then that the transformations themselves piece of job our sole bearings" (205-6).
- "Running afterwards change, nosotros piece of job techno-evangelists, surfing afterwards the latest fads amongst no clear road or destination. Some people mightiness telephone band this freedom, but it is the liberty of the unatached in addition to restless tourist, non the contemplatice liberty of the sojourner" (206).
- "Havel describes this tourism: 'Yet though nosotros live, detect pleasure, think, suffer, meet, part, orbit each other past times inwards diverse ways, that fatal lack of focus or perspective makes everything around us in addition to inside us somehow unstable, disconnected, confused'" (207).
- "The sojourner repeadedly poses the 'primordial questions' inwards monastic say to examine the administration he or she is going.... As the Hebrew prophet Micah puts it, the sojourner seeks to human activeness justly, dear mercy, in addition to walk humbly amongst God (Micah 6:8)" (207).
